A visit to the past

We visited George Ranch Historical Park this month.  I had already planned this activity when I stumbled upon discount tickets.  Score!
This place was honestly great, one of the top things I've done in Houston so far.  I only wish I hadn't waited so long to go.
This ranch has different homesteads on it, starting with the original family's pioneer homestead.  It also has three more homes, each one bigger and nicer than the previous one, showcasing the history, time period and the George family's prosperity and growth.  There were time period appropriate actors, clothing, tools, toys, etc.  It was very neat to see, especially the pioneer home.
The Ranch also showed cowboys roping cattle and riding.  What a fun, educational day we had.

A trip to the train museum

I have been waiting since Levi was a baby to take him to the train museum in Galveston.  Now that he's 4 I finally decided that he was old enough to appreciate it.
The train museum was great.   We walked through several old trains, went on a short train ride, took photos, and walked around the inside of the old train depot.  There were several different types of trains to walk around in and look at.  The kids even had fun pretending to drive one of the trains.
Afterwards the kids and I headed over to the beach and then stopped for ice cream at an old fashioned ice cream shop.

June update

Summertime is officially here, which means it's activity time!  Every summer I plan an elaborate activity calendar.  I like to have options for each day, just in case we're not up for one specific activity.  It's so helpful and makes the summer fun and eventful.  The kids enjoy getting out of the house each day.  And truth be told, they behave better when we're out!
The highlight of these activities was going to the George Ranch Historical Park.  It is now one of my favorite places I've visited in Houston.
