August is here and summer is at an end

It's always sad for me when August rolls around.  There are only a few precious weeks of summer vacation left before the kids are off to school.  I love exploring the many fun things to do in Houston with my kids.  Finding new family friendly things to do here is one of my favorite past times.  I discovered a end of summer bash close by so we had to hit that up!

Rebekah loves to hula hoop. She was thrilled to join to hula competition.

Sadly, this is the best photo I took of the kids' first day of school.  Rebekah started 2nd grade and Levi started PreK

Traditional '1st day of school Ice Cream'
The kids participate in a reading program which rewards an ice cream coupon.  We save it for the first day of school as a special extra at the end of the day.  They look forward to it!

Family Trip to San Antonio

We took a family vacation in the middle of August to San Antonio.  We stayed at a hotel right on the river walk downtown.  It was lovely.  We walked on the river walk and all around downtown everyday.  We spent time at the Alamo, took a trolly tour to famous or historic sites and stopped at the different Missions around San Antonio.  We also spent a day at Sea World.  The kids of course LOVED Sea World.  The Shamoo show and some of the other shows were very fun and entertaining. Even with all the fun things we did, Rebekah still said her favorite part was walking around downtown.
